Mary Hildebrand, 82, of Grunthal, MB passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Menno Home for the Aged.

She is survived by one daughter, five sons and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Frank.

1918-2011

Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elisabeth Kroeker, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 7, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Manitoba at the age of 92.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Jacob L. Kroeker, and two sons, Dennis in 2007 and Peter in infancy. She is survived by eight children, Rosalind (Irvin Dueck), Laura (Al Friesen), daughter-in-law, Janice, Erma, Dave (Agnes), Elda (John Enns), Ray (Louella), Clarice (Roger Plett), Vern (Anne); 27 grandchildren and their families.

Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach on Thursday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main St, Steinbach on Friday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

REV. HENRY DUECK

Rev. Henry Unger Dueck, born July 24, 1929, near Steinbach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria (Friesen), his six children, their spouses, 19 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Henry dedicated the greater part of his life serving his Lord and Saviour in Pastoral ministry. His legacy of gentle wisdom, love and patience lives on in his family and the many lives he touched.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Word of Life Mission Church in Niverville with interment at Hespeler Cemetery.

JOSEPH HOVORKA

Joe Hovorka died at the age of 96 on Tuesday February 8th, 2011 at the Altru Roseau Hospital.

Joe was predeceased by his wife Lillian of 72 years, father and mother Anton & Maria, two brothers Tony and Frank and sister Annie, one brother-in-law, Andrew Szeliga, three sisters-in-law, Rosie, Margaret and Mary, and one son-in-law, Wayne Banker. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are five children, Marvin (Doris) Hovorka, Muriel Banker, Linda (Ray) Smith, Terry Hovorka, Brian Hovorka, and their families.

Funeral services will be held Friday February 18th, 2011 at the Vassar Catholic Church. Family viewing is from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. Public viewing is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Church service will be at 1:30 p.m. followed by lunch and celebration of his life at the Vassar Hall.

MARGARET LOEWEN GIESBRECHT

Margaretha (Margaret) Loewen Giesbrecht, born Mar. 7, 1915 near Steinbach, went to be with her Saviour on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Elizabeth (Winnipeg) and Mary (Vancouver) and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five brothers Ben, Jake, William, Cornelius and Pete and two sisters Anna and Tina.

Margaret dedicated her life to being a missionary teacher, touching the lives of countless children from Northern Manitoba, NWT, BC, Costa Rica and Japan. She was a student of the Word and ministered to others as a way of life.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Willingdon Church in Burnaby, BC with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby.

Aug. 4, 1922-Feb. 13, 2011

Gerhard Ens passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 with his family by his side.

His memory is held dear by his wife Anni; children Helen, Anne and Michael, Gerhard and Denise, Werner and Christine, and Waldy and Janet; grandchildren Diana and Mathias, Philip, David, Brian, Eric, Tommy, Karin, Gerald, Sarah and Lynette; siblings and in-laws Betty Ens, Sara Ens, Bill Penner, Helen Ens, Abe and Helen Ens, Adolf and Anna Ens, Mary-Anne Zacharias, Werner and Marlene Ens and Armin and Caroline Ens and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Gerhard and Helena Ens, brothers Frank, Henry and Ernie, his sister Margaret Penner, sister-in-law Jean, son-in-law Dietmar Ens and brother-in-law Frank Zacharias.

There will be a viewing at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church on Thursday, Feb. 17 between 7 and 8 p.m. with a meditation at 7:15 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m., also at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church on Sargent and Garfield.

(Nee Easton)

Jan. 1, 1935 - Feb. 13, 2011

Verna was called upon by the Lord. At home, with her family by her side, peacefully the angels carried her to heaven.

A celebration of Verna’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Ste Anne Roman Catholic Church, Mass at 1:30 p.m. with Father René Chartier officiating. Interment to follow at the Ste. Anne Cemetery.

Arnold Brandt of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Monday, February 14, 2011 at the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Gertrude (nee Penner); children Jennifer (Les) Friesen, Josie Brandt, Heidi (Cameron) Wiebe, Marlowe (Meg), Darcen (Feleana), Quincy; 14 grandchildren; his brother Dave (Mary), brother-in-law Henry Plett, sister-in-law Annie Brandt,. He was predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth Brandt, seven brothers and two sisters.

ANTOINE ALPHÉE JOSEPH JOLICOEUR
Sept. 13, 1933-Feb. 15, 2011

With great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Antoine Jolicoeur on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at the Ste-Anne Hospital at the age of 77 years.

Antoine leaves to cherish his memory two brothers Edouard, Narcisse and wife Roberta, six sisters Rose-Délima Lafrenière, Antoinette and husband Raymond Desautels, Rose-Anna Normandeau, Adrienne Cadez, Aline Simard and Cécile Danylchuk, two sisters-in-law Alida Jolicoeur and Lorraine Jolicoeur, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his close nephews and nieces Renell (Colleen), Jolyne (Michael), Karyne (Denis) and Mikaël, as well as by his very helpful neighbours Ron and Russ.

Antoine was predeceased by his parents Eugène and Rose Délima, two brothers Alphonse and Léon, and five brothers-in-law Alain Lafrenière, Romano Cadez, Louis Simard, Elphège Normandeau and Robert Danylchuk.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ste-Anne Roman Catholic Church in Ste-Anne, MB with Father René Chartier, celebrant. Interment of the ashes will take place at a later date.

The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care Antoine received at the Ste-Anne Hospital and the St-Boniface General Hospital.

CORNELIUS "Neil" R. MARTENS.

Neil passed away peacefully at the Chinook Hospice, Calgary, Alberta on February 18, 2011 at the age of 70 years. 

He is lovingly remembered by his children Richard and family, Debbie and family, April and family, Brad and Scott. 

He is also survived by six grandchildren and two brothers, Johnny and Phillip Martens.  He was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Susie Martens, brother Pete, sister Sue and brother Jake.

LOUISE VERA GLADYS OLSON
(nee Reimer)
Aug. 10, 1928-Feb. 19, 2011

Louise Olson died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at the age of 82 at the St Adolphe Personal Care Home.
She was predeceased by her first husband Martin Giesbrecht as well as her second husband Clarence Olson.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters Beverly (Theo) and Bonnie (Russ); her son Nelson; grandchildren Elena (Jason), Emmanuel (Sarka), Miltos (Neviyah), Peter; Teddy, Matthew (Mel), Joshua, Abe (Danielle); great-grandchildren Aria, Petra and Zamar. She is also deeply mourned by her siblings Al (Elmer) (Joan), Nita (Guy), Sydney (Helen) and Charlotte.
            We extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of the St Adolphe Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they provided over the course of the last year and particularly during Mom’s last days.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel in Rosenort, MB. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m., also at the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel with interment in the EMC Church Cemetery.

LINA SABOT

Peacefully after a lengthy struggle with MS, Lina Sabot passed away on February 20, 2011 at the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, MB. 
Left to mourn are her children Roger Sabot, Louise (Maurice) Chartier and Suzanne (Darren) Feyeriesen, her sister Irma Nolin, sisters-in-law Evéline Saindon, Irène Baron, Jeannette Nault, Juliette Sabot, Sally Perchaluk and Marguerite Dupuis, brothers-in-law Marcel Sabot and Frankie Baron, and many nieces and nephews. 

Lina was predeceased by Donat Sabot, her husband of 57 years, parents Stanislas and Georgiana Phaneuf, sisters Lucienne Dumaine and Bertha Phaneuf, and brothers Ulysse and Roméo.

The family would like to thank Soeurs Rioux and Forest, Dr. Lemoine, as well as the nurses and staff, for their care and kindness.

A memorial service was held on Friday, February 25 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society.

Henry Elias of Grunthal, formerly of Steinbach, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Bethesda Hospital, in Steinbach at age 81.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mary, and children Nettie (Goerge Doerksen) Abe (Helena), Peter (Linda), Jacob (Helena) and their families; five brothers and two sisters. He was predeceased by one son Henry in 1977, his parents, two sisters, three brothers, one brother-in- law, and one sister-in-law.

Margaret J. Baryliuk, formerly of Vita, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at the Bethesda Personal Care Home in Steinbach at the age of 92.

She is survived by one daughter Nadia (Rudy) and one son Jarvis (Henriette), six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Katherine Sobistiansky, three sisters, one brother and her husband Jack in 1989.

The funeral service took place on Monday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at the St Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vita with burial at the Parish Cemetery.

Surrounded by her children, Marie Klassen Loewen went to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 24th, 2011, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Manitoba at age 94.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Cornelius R. Loewen and son Robert. Peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 Peter Turick, 68 years old, of Vita passed away at the Vita District Health Care Centre. Peter was born on July 27, 1942 to John and Anna Turick.

Peter is survived by his wife Florence, one daughter, one son and five grandchildren, Tammy (Jason) Tostowaryk (Nickolas, Dylan, Jordan) and Jeff (Vivian) Turick (Cole, Brooklyn).

Peter was predeceased by his parents John Turick and Anna Kis, his brother Walter Turick and two brothers in infancy, William Turick and David Turick.

The funeral service for Peter Turick was held at the Vita Funeral Home on Wednesday, Mar. 2.

August Proulx of Woodridge, MB passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. He was predeceased by three sisters Yvonne, Alice and Aurise as well as six brothers Rosaire, Willie, Lucien, Aimé, Gerry and Armande.

With heavy hearts, we the family of Margaret Tymchuk announce her passing on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Vita Hospital at the age of 94 years.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Sylvia Kostyniuk, grandchildren Jeffrey, Stephanie (Ian Chatel), Clayton and Mark (Laurie Reid), great-grandchildren Ryan (Tricia Bradley) and Brenda-Lynn (Adam Levesque) and great-great-grandchildren Taylor and Vanessa, sisters-in-law Phyllis and Shirley as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Stephen, in 1995, son James in 1961, son-in-law Clifford Kostyniuk in 1993, parents Harry and Pauline Podolsky, her brothers Michael, Peter, Eugene, Morris and Jarvis as well as her sisters Mary, Nellie, Stella and Ann.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Vita Funeral Home with Rev Father Miron Pozniak officiating. Interment followed at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in Vita, MB.

JACOB G. BANMAN
August 13, 1918 – February 27, 2011

It is with a deep sense of loss that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jacob G. (Guenther) Banman at the age of 92 years.   After sustaining a fall at his residence at Cedar wood Manor, he was not able to recover from his injuries and passed away peacefully at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba on Sunday, February 27, 2011.

Jacob was predeceased by Barbara, his wife of 65 years, in May 2008 and his daughter-in-law Marilyn (Peters) in 1985. He is now survived by his eldest son Bob (Joanne), grandson David (Anne), great-grandsons Daniel and Robert, granddaughter Heidi (Randy), great-grandchildren Ella and Nicholas; second son Edward (Jill), grandson Karl, granddaughter Maria (Tyler) Barrel, great-granddaughter Avery and great-grandson Huxley, and granddaughter Christina; third son Gerald (Teresa) and granddaughter Lindsey.

The family wishes to thank all those who were involved in Dad’s care - including the staff at Woodhaven Manor in Steinbach– the Vita Hospital – Cedarwood Manor and Steinbach Bethesda Hospital.  Your support and many acts of kindness will always be appreciated by our family.
