ELIZABETH FRIESEN 

Peacefully, with Henry by her side, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Elizabeth Friesen passed away at the age of 87 years at Arborg Personal Care Home.
 
Besides her husband, she is survived by daughter Heidi (Stephen) Iwaniuk, son Mel (Diane), son Henry (Mary), daughter Trudy (Abe) Loewen, son Les (Jennifer); 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Katherine (Henry) Plett and many other relatives and friends.
 
Elizabeth was predeceased by 2 sons Alfred and John and one daughter Bernice.
 
Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 8 at 3:00 p.m. at the Morweena Evangelical Mennonite Church, with interment in the church cemetery to follow.  Viewing Saturday, January 7 from 6-7 p.m. with a devotional at 6:15 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, and at the church prior to the service. 

DANIEL FRIESEN

Daniel F. Friesen, 68, of Steinbach passed away at Bethesda Hospital on Thursday, January 5, 2012.  He is survived by his wife Ann, two daughters and three sons and one sister.
 
He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.

DAVID CAYER

David Cayer was born December 22, 1921 and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2012. David resided in Vassar, MB for most of his life. Chalet Malouin, St. Malo was home for 15 years and lastly Vita Personal Care Home. 
 
David was predeceased by his wife Antoinette; his parents Albert and Alma, brother Raymond, sisters Aurore Levesque and Grace Lamy.  He is survived by brothers Richard, Cub (Joyce), sisters Francis Rempel , Lorraine Sinclair, Gert Cote, Gail Hunter (Richard) and Judy Preteau.
 
Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service was held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach.

John Homer Calder, 90, of Vita formerly of Carlowrie passed away at the Vita Personal Care Home on Friday, January 6, 2012.
 
He is survived by two daughters, two sons and their families.  HE was predeceased by his wife Effie and one brother.
 
Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenridge United Church with ash interment at the church cemetery.

Lena passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, January 7. 2012, at the Vita Hospital, at the age of 85.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Larry (Kim), Lorraine (Ray), Jim (Mary), Raymond, Audrey (Dillon); grandchildren: Rhonda, Kyle, Christopher, Janine,  Courtney, Justin, Keanan, Jayden;  her faithful guard dog Chester; sisters Mary, Cassie, Jenny, Nellie, Orise, Elizabeth, Alice, and numerous relatives.

With family at her bedside, Mary Regehr passed away peacefully at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach on January 7th, 2012.
 
Predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers in childhood, 3 sisters, & 6 brother-in-laws.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, grand-daughter, sister and aunt Emily Rose Friesen on January 8, 2012 at Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB.
 
Emily is survived by her parents, Ken and Tara, brothers Brent, Justin and Ben; sisters Brittany Kari and Emma.

TENA LOEPPKY(nee Dyck)
April 10, 1928 – January 9, 2012

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Tena. She passed away on January 9, 2012 at the Poseidon Care Center in Winnipeg at the age of 83. 

Tena was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ed.  Tena is lovingly remembered by her family; daughters Lynda, Noelle (Larry) and sons Nathan (Debbie) and Don (Chris) and by her grandchildren Stephanie, Jordan,Amber, Dallas, Jason and Chad and great grandson Josiah. 

Viewing will take place at Vita Funeral Home on Friday January 13 at 7:00 pm.

The funeral will be held at the Stuartburn Gospel Chapel on Saturday January 14 at 2:00 pm.  Burial to follow at the Grace Cemetery.

ERDMAN KEHLER
May 27, 1926 – January 10, 2012
 
On Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the age of 85 years, Dad passed away after a courageous struggle with his family at his side, to be reunited with our Mom. He was born on May 27, 1926 in the RM of Hanover to John and Maria Kehler.
 
Dad leaves behind to remember him, his five children, Ron (Margaret) Kehler, Carol (Fred) Kroeker, Lorna (Harry) Warkentin, Russ (Carol) Kehler, Randy (Alice) Kehler; as well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by three brothers, two sisters and brothers and sisters-in-law.  He was predeceased by his wife Susan, his parents, and two brothers. 
 
A celebration of Dad’s life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.  Interment will be at Silberfeld Cemetery following lunch.  Last respects can be paid prior to the service.  We would like to thank his home care aids and the nurses at the Ste. Anne Hospital for the care Dad received during his stay.

Peter M. Friesen, 75, of La Broquerie (formerly of Grunthal), MB passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, in Winnipeg on Friday, January 13, 2012.

May 5, 1947 – January 13, 2012

Peacefully, on January 13, 2012, John passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital.

Left to mourn are sister-in-law Shirley, brother David and wife Flor, sister Lorna, sister Barbara and husband Jon, brother George and wife Bev and numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

John was predeceased by his parents Abe and Anne and brother Abe.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life has been scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2012, 2pm at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivary Boulevard.  A private interment will take place at a later date.

On January 14, 2012 Fred Cross passed away with his family at his side. Fred was born on April 15, 1922 in Port Talbot, Wales.
 
He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Clarice, his stepfather Phillip Igglesden and his beloved brother Clement. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Connie, daughters Glynis (Terry) and Diane; grandchildren Michelle, John (Stacy), Brett (Steve) and Paige; his great grandchildren Zoe, Deven and Molly; his sisters Edwina and Susan (Dennis), sister-in-law June, nephew Malcolm and niece Elizabeth (Gerald).

Margarete Ehm, mother of Rose Honke, Albert Ehm, and   Lore Dies (predeceased daughter), passed away at Fairview Home, Brandon on January 17, 2012 at the age of 82 years.

Arthur Barkman Rempel passed away peacefully on January 19, 2012 at the age of 91 at Bethesda Place.
 

Art is survived by his wife of 67 years, Leona and their children James (Cindy Driver) of Brooklyn, NY and Margaret (John Wiebe) of Steinbach and his very special grandchildren Brett Daley (Amanda) of Steinbach and Meredith Hutchinson (Scott) of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his sister Romelda (Ed Schellenberg), brothers Lorne and Leander (Louise) and many nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Elizabeth Rempel, brothers Edwin, Peter and Edmar and sister Alvina Loewen.

MARGARET PENNER

 Margaret Penner (nee: Nickel), age 51, of New Bothwell, MB passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital with her family by her side after a short battle with cancer.

She was a business owner of Country Smoke House for many years. She touched the lives of everyone she met.

She is survived by her son Stuart and wife Kaitlin and daughters Sylvia and Sheryl; her parents George and Mary Nickel, three sisters, five brothers, and their families, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A service celebrating her life was held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Church, Steinbach, MB, with interment at the Silberfeld Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Siberfeld CMC Building Fund.

Cornelius T. (Niel) Penner, 93, of Kleefeld, MB passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Menno Home for the Aged in Grunthal.

He was predeceased by five siblings and one great granddaughter.

LORNE SOBERING

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Lorne Sobering, age 64 of Steinbach, MB.  He was born in Gardenton, MB on October 5, 1947. He passed away peacefully at the Bethesda Hospital on Thursday, January 19, 2012 with family by his side, after a very short battle with cancer.

 He is survived by his loving  family; wife Sarah, son Jason (Anita), step son Steve, step daughters Alicia (Walter) and Amanda; grandchildren Colin, Logan and Kyra Sobering, Tyson McCombe, Brittaney and Araya Kornelson; brother Ivan (Rose), sisters Sonia (Norm) and Betty; nephews, nieces and many friends.
 
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and his first wife.
 
Lorne had a long career working first with Harper Construction and most recently with Penn-Co Construction for 25 years before retiring in 2009.
 
A memorial service was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, January 24 at 10:00 a.m. with ash interment to follow at the Sandilands Cemetery.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 Bill passed away at Red River Lodge in Morris, MB. He was born in Carlowrie, MB on June 17, 1927.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Moysej and Maria, his brothers Peter and John, his sisters Anna, Pauline, Anastasia, Natalie, Victoria and Melinda, sisters-in-law Gloria and Kathleen, and brothers-in-law Fred, Ernest, Jack and Peter.

He is survived by his brothers Steve and Nestor, sister-in-law Lena, numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Rosa Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rosa, MB at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

DMYTRO (MATT) ANTONOWICH

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. On Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 Dmytro (Matt) Antonowich, age 84, passed away with his family at his side at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after a recurring battle with cancer and its complications.

Dad was born on July 13, 1927 in Vita, MB. He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Pearl; four sisters, Jean, Mary, Ann and Sophie; and two brothers, Nick and Walter.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Anne; daughters Gayle, Barb, Judy and Connie (Art); grandchildren Tara (Derek), Jamie, Tim (Joanna), Rhonda (Jon), Stephanie, Kelly, Nicole and Luke; his great-grandchildren Timothy and Cody; his sisters Olga (Alex) and Stella (Johnny); and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Prayer services were held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Vita Hall. The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Vita with interment to follow at Vita North Cemetery.

THEODOSY (TED) WACHNA

Theodosy Wachna passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Anne Danyluk Wachna.

Ted will be greatly missed by his loving children David, Pamela (Brad Blain) and Lisa Anne (Dr Steven Khoury). He was a devoted grandfather to Stephanie Anne, Mark, Anne-Marie and Audrey. Ted will also be missed and remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, his sister Eva, extended family members and friends, especially the gang at Nemo’s and Essex Golf and Country Club.

Peter D. Dyck, 93, of Steinbach, MB passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Bethesda Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen (nee Hiebert) and eight children: Bill (Theresa) of Steinbach; Jake of Winnipeg; Dave (Martha) of Nakusp, BC; Peter (Dorothy) of Steinbach; Ben (Sherry) of Steinbach; John of Badger, Dianne (Russ) Fast of Steinbach; Bev (John) Culligan of Marana, AZ; one son-in-law (Jake (Marianne) Hildebrandt of Steinbach, 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his daughter Betty in 1990.

We the family of Katherine (Teen) Penner (nee Kliewer)  announce her home going on Saturday, Jan 28th, 2012, at the age of 94. 

Katherine was predeceased by her husband Joseph T, Penner in 1979.

Frank Harms, 82, of Steinbach, passed away January 29, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach.

Marion Dueck passed away peacefully at the Morris General Hospital on January 24, 2012.   She was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 2007, two daughters Gloria and Valerie who died in infancy, and a brother, Melvin. Left to mourn her passing are her sons Randy (Carol and grandchildren Janeand Virginia) and Greg (Lori and grandchildren Angela and Gregory), as well as a brother Allan Dueck (Elda) and a sister –in-law Anne Hildebrand (Peter).

The funeral was held on January 28, 2012 at the Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Church.

Faye is lovingly remembered by her family: daughters Lyn (Doug) Casper, Lois (Tim) Burns and Lori (Richard) Zaparaniuk; grandchildren, Tanya (Kevin) Mazurek, Troy (Stephanie) Casper, Graham (Caylee) Zaparaniuk and Geoffrey Zaparaniuk; great grandchildren: Saffrin and Sean Mazurek, Jack and Samuel Casper; brothers, Earl (Levina) and Roy (Carol) Pickell and numerous nieces, nephews and all of her friends.

Faye was born in Wolseley, SK and grew up near Ridgeville, MB. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, cards with her family and loved a good joke.

CAROLYN MAIR

Surrounded by her family, Carolyn Mair (nee Funk), passed away January 31, 2012 at the age of 57, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle, parents Otto and Margaret Funk, two sisters: Connie (Abass) Kamara, Judy Funk; one brother Jeff (Leona) Funk and their families.

The funeral will take place Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church, 233 3rd Street S., Niverville, MB, with interment at the Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a vibrant scarf, representing Carolyn’s personality.

MARIA DYCK

Peacefully with her family at her side, Maria Dyck, 84, of Grunthal, MB passed away at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

She is survived by her children Mary (John) Wieler, Martha (Alvin) Voth, Hilda (Will) Bergen, Ernest (Marlene) Dyck, Adina Loewen; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, four sisters and six brothers.

 She was predeceased by her husband Peter A. Dyck in 2001, one grandson and two brothers.

 Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m.at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.
