Laverne Penner, 64, of Mitchell, MB passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 1, 2012.

He is survived by his wife Brenda, one daughter and three sons and their families.

Oct. 13, 1931 - Apr. 2, 2012

Mom is survived by her loving husband Wilf, and her children Sheila (Grant McVicar), Tom (Margie), Lauren (Rob Bilbey), Janet (Peter Cobden), Norm (Beve), Phil (Deidra), and Murray (Melanie), as well as 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by brothers Bud, Dave and Rick, sister Vera, and brother-in-law Hugh.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Scott, Dale, Shane, T-Jay, Jamie, Steven, Tom, and Steven.

WALTER H. SKAVINSKY

Walter passed away on Monday, Apr. 2, 2012 at the age of 77, peacefully at home with his loving wife Gail and son Jon at his side.

Walter was predeceased by his father Joe, his mother Lilley, his brothers Tony and Jack, and granddaughter Lacey Rae Flick.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; his many friends and his close and loved “Buddy” Pocket.

At Walter’s request, cremation has taken place with a memorial service to take place on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Sprague Community Hall in Sprague, MB. Interment will take place at a later date.

SHERI SHETLER (REIMER)

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sheri Shetler (Reimer) from Westport, Oregon on April 2, 2012 at the age of 32 years.

Left to cherish Sheri’s memory are her husband Jasper; her parents Denver and Anne Reimer; her sister Lori; her brother Rob, his wife Glenda and their children Auriette, Jonah and Owen; her brother Chris, his wife Myra and their children Micah, Christian, Liyu and Bere; Jasper’s family; and many friends and relatives.

Two memorial services will be held, one at the Westport Community Church, in Westport, Oregon on Saturday, April 7 and a second one at the Blumenort EM Church, in Blumenort, Manitoba on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. A public viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach on Monday, April 9 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

RUTH PAULS (nee Enns)
1943 – 2012

On Tuesday April 3, 2012, at her residence in Morden, MB, at the age of 69 years, Ruth Pauls, our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law and dear friend, went to her eternal rest.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her loved ones, daughter, Connie and Steve Parent and their 2 children of Lake Mary, Florida, son, Floyd (and Christine of Winkler) Pauls and their 2 children of Steinbach, 3 brothers and their families, 2 sisters, and also her in-laws and their families.

Ruth was predeceased by both of her parents, 2 brothers, one granddaughter, and her beloved husband, Ed, in 2008.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Christian Life Center in Morden. Interment followed at Southside Cemetery.

MARY PAULS

Mary Pauls of Steinbach passed away peacefully at Bethesda Hospital on April 4th, 2012.  She is survived by her sons Wayne (Sandee), Ken (Sandi), Lorne, Craig (Vi), and Troy (Jan), sisters Helen Keryluk (Walter), Betty Sandford (John), Ella Ferris (Orville), eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Margaret Funk of Morden.

Mother was born in Morden, studied Art in Winnipeg, raised a family in Winkler, and had a career in Steinbach as Activities Director at the Bethesda PCH until her retirement.  She was a well-known local artist, and took great pride in the many paintings and murals she created.  Mary was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Steinbach Legion.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 150 Penfeld Drive in Steinbach, with ash interment to follow at Morden Southside Cemetery.

Rudy Pankiewich, 72 years of age of Steinbach, sadly passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
 
He is deeply mourned by his loving wife of 45 years, Nadia and their two daughters, Karen (Marc) Bouvier and Kelly Pankiewich as well as his four grandchildren, Brityn, BLanca, Ella and Layla. Also left to mourn are his siblings, the Baryliuk family, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Henry S. Wiebe, 96, of Winnipeg passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.  He is survived by his beloved wife Helen; children Ellen McKellar, Ivan Wiebe and Phyllis (Ralston) Selley and their families.  He was predeceased by one daughter Judy Rawdon and one son-in-law Jim McKellar.

Edna Penner was born to John T. and Anna Fast Reimer on March 23, 1921 at Clearspring, MB. She peacefully departed this life on April 11, 2012 at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB, reaching the age of 91 years.

Those left to cherish fond memories are two daughters, Julietta and her husband Monroe Goossen of Hyas, Sask-atchewan, Nealda of Ste. Anne, MB, one son, Christopher Stevenson of Peguis, MB, six grandchildren and their families, Stewart and Ruth, Tamara and Kelly Penner, Leslee and Shawn Penner, Richard and Natalie, Shawn, Trevor and Starla; her siblings Mary Froese, Steinbach, Dan and Mary Reimer, Stein-bach, Gladys Eidse, Enderby, BC, Jessie Reimer, Steinbach; seven sisters-in-law, Nellie Penner, Esther Penner, Linda Penner, Mary Penner, Elma and Robert Toews, Lottie Penner and Irene Penner. Her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Greenland, MB. Officiating ministers were Jesse Friesen, Edgar Wohlgemuth, Melvin Penner, Elroy Penner, and Samuel Friesen. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

Alexander Wallace McNaught passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 in his 61st year with his family by his side.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Barbara, daughter Carrie and husband Garrett, grandson Linden, daughter Sherry, grandson Scott and granddaughter Vanessa.

Peacefully, after a brief illness, Nora Veronika Rieger passed away on April 14th 2012, at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, at age 97.  Nora was born in Steinbach, the fourth of six children of Sebastian and Eva Rieger. 

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Anna and Minna, and brothers Sebastian, Simon, and Henry.   She is survived by nine nieces, three nephews and their families.

Peacefully on Tuesday April 17,2012 at the St.Adolphe Personel Care Home in St.Adolphe MB. Bert Peters passed away at the age of 85.

Bert will be sadly missed by his children Gord (Marian), Janice (Huey McIntyre), Sharon (Willie), Greg ( Mariette ),Helen (Henri Dagenais), Debbie ( Jake Wiebe), Calvin ( Maureen), Holly (Dennis). On April 24, 2012, Evelyn passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital due to complications following surgery.

Evelyn was predeceased by both of her parents, sisters Betty (Pete), Dorothy (Howard), Peggy, and niece 'Lizzy'.  She is survived by brother Henry, sister Sharon, sons Ralph (Angel) and Michael, grandsons Emerson and Damon, many nieces and nephews, and also honorary (and possibly favorite) grandson Mouse.

As per her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated following a service held at Wilson Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday April 28th at 5:00pm.  Family viewing will be at 2:00pm. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Claire Bonin, aged 86 years, of Rosenort and formerly of Winnipeg and St Joseph, MB.

Claire leaves to cherish her memory her children Maurice (Jocelyn), Marielle (Elmer) Giesbrecht, Monique, Real (Sandi) and Alain; grandchildren Vickie and Cheryl and their spouses; also five great-grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1978 and daughter Huguette in 1974.

After a remarkable life, Elsie Fast Kliewer of Steinbach (formerly of Kleefeld), passed away peacefully on April 29, 2012 at the Rest Haven Care Home.  She reached the age of 90 years.

Left to cherish Elsie’s memory are her children, Judy (Fred) Goertzen, Ken (Iris) Kliewer, Joey (John) McMillan, Lori (Loren) Hiebert, six grandchildren, their spouses, and six great –grandchildren. Elsie is also survived by brothers Arnold (Anne), Elvin (Della), Harry (Marion), Dennis (Frieda), sisters Marian (Bert Kliewer), Bernice Bartel, sisters-in-law Frieda Fast, brother –in-law Alvin Neustaedter.

Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, April 29, 2012, Lucien Cote passed away at Action Marguerite (Foyer Valade) in Winnipeg at the age of 86.

Lucien was born in La Broquerie, Manitoba, on July 6, 1925. On March 17, 1951, Lucien married Lorraine Olason from Piney, Manitoba.

Lucien leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Lorraine, and their seven children, Myron (Judy), Rodney (Marilyn), Sherry (Christopher), Barry (Margaret), Blaine (Cheryl), Geraldine, Nicole; grandchildren - Christopher, Kevin, Jaret, Jordan, Kirby, Erich, Courtney, Koree, Patrick, Brett, Sylvie, Cheyenne; step-grandchildren - Mike, Stacey; great-grandchildren - Kade, Kayla, Sadie; step-great-grandchildren - Chase, Nicolas, Amelia, Ryder. He is also survived by six brothers, James, Aime, Denis, Ovide, Robert, Emile and six sisters, Lucy, Leona, Alice, Rita, Doris and Anita.

I, Judith Krahn, was born to my parents Peter Neufeld and Agatha Wiens on May 15, 1919, at Swift Current, Saskatchewan. At four years of age I moved to Chihuahua, Mexico with my parents. I received my schooling in Burwalde, Swift Current Colony, Mexico.

I was predeceased by my husband, Gerhard Krahn, on September 28, 1979. I was also predeceased by an 8 month old son in 1946, one daughter-in-law in 2003 and one grand-daughter-in-law in 2009.
 
I am survived by 6 sons, 8 daughters and their families. The sons are: Peter from Winkler, George from Winkler, John from Ignace, Ontario, Henry from Winkler, Herman from Rainy River, Ontario and Jake from Chortitz. The daughters are: Agatha Peters from Schanzenfeld, Katharina Krahn from Grunthal, Anna Hamm from Tolstoi, Edith Penner from Rainy River, Ontario, Margaret Janzen from Rainy River, Ontario, Maria Martens from Grunthal, Aganetha Krahn from Grunthal and Helena Krahn from Grunthal. Descended from these families are 73 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren.
 
Our mother went to her eternal rest on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at approximately 6:20 p.m. She lived a long and full life of 92 years, 11 months and 13 days.
 
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, New Bothwell, MB with viewing at the church prior to the service. Interment at the Reinland Church Cemetery.
 
If friends so desire donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Reinland Mennonite Church, Grunthal, MB.

JAKE FALK

In loving memory of a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Jake Falk of Kleefeld, MB. He passed away at the age of 52 on April 30, 2012 at the Ste. Anne Hospital.
 
He was born to Frank and Helena Falk of Mexico on April 18, 1960 and married to Aganetha Harder Falk for 32 years. They were blessed with six children (one deceased) and later six grandchildren.
 
Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held Friday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church.  Interment at the church cemetery.
