The Blumenort Fun and Fair Days kicks off Friday evening with a line-up of three local musical acts.

The Academy hits the stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Fresh IE at 8 p.m. and The Color at 9:30 p.m.

After the concerts wrap up, Paddington the Movie will be shown at 10:45 p.m.

Saturday’s events kick off at 8 a.m. with a free breakfast hosted by the RM of Hanover and the Blumenort LUD. The event usually proves to be quite popular each year.

“We generally serve about eight to 900 breakfasts,” said Karen Hopkins, Fair Committee Chair.

After breakfast, fair-goers can stick around to watch the parade at 11 a.m.

Hopkins estimates that between 2,000 to 4,000 people usually visit the fair, but this year there’s something new to add to the excitement.

“We expect more people because of the splash park,” said Hopkins.

The Blumenort splash park’s grand opening ceremonies will be Sat, June 27 at 2 p.m.

There are several new components added to the fair this year, including MPI Mini Car Town and Prairie Exotics.

Aside from the few new attractions, the fair offers a lot of the same attractions this year that fair-goers have come to know and love.

“It’s what people have come to expect—it works,” said Hopkins, who compares the familiarity of the fair to the familiarity of Steinbach’s Summer in the City.

A community volunteer award will be presented at 8 p.m.

The rest of Saturday’s schedule rounds out with performances by Flippers Gymnastics, Stoney Brook Dance, The Rock Ridge Pickers, The Cracked Egg Shell and Cold Hard Cash. Saturday evening closes out with a fireworks display at 11 p.m.

There will be a free lunch following a community church service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
