18-year-old charged in fatal crash

RCMP released new information on Monday morning about a two-vehicle collision on Sunday.

Police responded the crash, which involved a car and a pickup truck, just before 5 a.m. Sunday, six kilometres west of Lorette on Provincial Road 207.

An 18-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged in the incident. Colin Robert Simard, the driver of a pickup truck involved in the crash, faces multiple charges including criminal negligence causing death as well as impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charges.

The driver of the truck was originally identified as an 18-year-old female.

Police also corrected the age of the deceased, the driver of the other vehicle. The victim was 29 years old, not 39, as was first reported.

Simard remains in custody.
