A forecast that promised an unwelcome gift of winter weather Christmas Day and Boxing Day has indeed delivered.

Roads across the Southeast were reported as of early Monday morning to be snow covered and impacted by poor visibility, if they weren’t already closed entirely.

The Trans-Canada Highway has been closed east of Winnipeg to the Ontario border and west of Winnipeg to Brandon. Both Highway 75 and Highway 59 are closed from Winnipeg to the U.S. border. Provincial Road 200 between St Adolphe and Winnipeg is closed as well.

Though snow is expected to slow, Environment Canada has said winds are expected to remain strong into the afternoon, meaning visability will remain an issue for much of the day.

More information on current road conditions can be found on the province’s website.
