The Blumenort fair is looking to bring that old time country fair feel to town.

The fair, which runs today and tomorrow, kicks off with an outdoormovie  screening of Minions tonight.

Karen Hopkins, fair organizer, said this year the fair is going in a more ‘old time country fair’ direction. She adds to follow that theme this year, the fair will feature several contests throughout the day.

Contests include a watermelon eating, Lego model building, hat decorating, pie baking, men’s cake baking, a diaper derby, and a toddler trot.

Saturday’s festivities begin with a free pancake breakfast hosted by the RM of Hanover and the Blumenort LUD.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will make its way through town. Patrons are encouraged to decorate their bicycles and join the parade for a chance to win Walmart gift cards.

5acres, Cold Hard Cash, and The Cracked Egg Shell will all headline the main stage on Saturday.

Kid’s activities, which include inflatable bouncers and zorb balls, run from noon to 4 p.m. All you can play bracelets are $5. Mini train rides are an additional $1.

Dexter’s Donuts and Classic Car-B-Que are this year’s food vendors. Patrons can also purchase chicken on a bun or a turkey leg with a drink a chips for $7 as part of a fundraiser sponsored by Granny’s Poultry.

The day will wrap up with a fireworks display around 11 p.m.

On Sunday, the fair is followed by an outdoor church service in the park and free Mexican disco lunch.
