“What are these?” Marc Atyolil wonders aloud as he grabs a small grey garment that resembles the outfit of some child’s teddy bear.

“Those are tights, sweetheart,” replies his wife, Mandy MacLaren.

“People fit into these?” asks a bewildered Atyolil.

No, that’s not a sampling of a husband-wife conversation overheard at a clothing store, but rather the playful banter that is a hallmark of the Marc and Mandy Show, a new lifestyle television show filmed in Blumenort in front of a studio audience.

And that banter, unlike when you make a witty remark to your spouse while browsing for clothes, is met with laughter.

That, in essence, is the beauty of the show. The giggling of the studio audience adds a party-like atmosphere to a lighthearted program highlighting home decor, fashion, lifestyle and celebrity interest.

“We love the energy that the audience brings to the show,” said MacLaren. “It wouldn’t be the Marc and Mandy Show without our studio audience.”

The show integrates their viewers, many of which reside in the surrounding area, into the program, from the two gentlemen racing to wrap a gift the fastest to a makeover request.

Atyolil recalls a husband who had been ill for a couple years writing into the show to confide that he had put his wife through a lot. He asked if Marc and Mandy could make her feel special.

The show gleefully obliged, raiding his wife’s closet and dolling her up.

“Her husband hadn’t seen her transformation before the moment we revealed her. He cried on set,” recalls MacLaren.

“I still watch that clip and say, ‘Oh, I’m going to cry again.’ We’ve had some amazing experiences on the show, and that’s all from our audience.”

More on the Marc and Mandy Show and the chemistry between the hosts in the Nov. 20 edition of The Carillon.
