Boil water advisory incorrectly issued

The Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization said a boil water advisory has been incorrectly issued for Steinbach and Niverville.

There are no issues with the water supplies in either place.

The advisory was issued via Twitter, after an error during a systems test.

Rachel Morgan, a spokesperson for the Province, said the communications department was made aware of the error shortly before 2 p.m. and they are investigating to see if it was a mechanical or human error.

“I can tell you everyone got pretty upset about it,” said Morgan.

A retraction was issued around 3 p.m.
