A small car collided with a Steve’s Livestock truck this morning around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Brandt streets in Steinbach. The car was extensively damaged but the driver was not injured.

Firefighters directed traffic at the scene. Traffic lights had not been working prior to the crash.

“The truck had a flashing yellow and the car had a flashing red,” explained Mike Penner, assistant deputy fire chief. “The car proceeded through and got schmucked.”

The truck hit the passenger side of the westbound car. Penner told The Carillon the car driver was very fortunate for many reasons.

“For one, there were no passengers. Two, he got hit in the engine compartment and it was a low speed collision.”
