Checkstop program leads to charges

A total of 75 traffic offences were addressed in a checkstop blitz by RCMP on Friday and Saturday night.

A number offences were caught by police including cell phone use, speeding and not wearing a seat belt.

Two men, a 19-year-old Steinbach resident and a 37-year-old Winnipeg resident, were charged with impaired driving. A 37-year-old woman from Steinbach was also charged after a traffic stop on Sunday with impaired driving.

Other patrols throughout the weekend in Steinbach and the RMs of Hanover, La Broquerie and Ste Anne resulted in 46 liquor and traffic offences, police said.
