An accident Friday night at the intersection of Highway 52 and Kokomo Road in the RM of La Broquerie resulted in a woman being transported to Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre by STARS air ambulance.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the two-vehicle collision around 7:15 p.m.

Steinbach RCMP Cpl. Glen Binda said a vehicle eastbound on Highway 52 attempted to turn northbound onto Kokomo Road when it was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on the highway.

“It appears that the person turning didn’t see the vehicle coming and it was a head-on collision,” said Binda.

The female driver of the eastbound car was transported by STARS in stable condition with undetermined injuries.

Three people in the westbound vehicle, which Binda described as an older model Chevy truck, were seen by paramedics and released at the scene.

Binda said the collision remains under investigation. He expected the intersection would remain closed for at least two hours.
