Cyclist injured in crash with truck

A 21-year-old female has been hospitalized after the cyclist was hit by a truck on Highway 12 north of Blumenort Friday afternoon.
Steinbach RCMP Cpl. Glen Binda said the woman was travelling northbound when she decided to go from the right-hand shoulder to the left. The cyclist was hit by a pick-up truck, landing on top of the utility trailer.
She was conscious and her injuries are not life-threatening. The cyclist was airlifted to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Binda said the cyclist did not look to see if any vehicles were coming. He said the police’s investigation is ongoing.
Traffic was rerouted around the crash for much of the remaining of the afternoon.
