Dueck wins Niverville byelection

There will be a new face on Niverville council as Nathan Dueck claimed 54 percent of the vote in the town byelection on Wednesday.

Polls closed at 8 p.m.

Dueck tallied 278 votes to be declared the winner besting John Falk who captured 174 votes and Louise Billows who received 65 votes of support.

Falk had hoped to reclaim the council seat he resigned earlier this year to run for the Manitoba Liberal Party in the April provincial election.

Voter turnout for the municipal byelection was 19 percent.
