One of the country’s most recognizable gasoline brands will be returning to Steinbach.

The Fas Gas location at the city’s west end on 60 PTH 52W will be rebranded as an ESSO in the near future, the Parkland Fuel Corporation confirmed.

The Fas Gas had closed on Oct. 26 this year.

Imperial Oil, which owns the ESSO brand, said they understand the impending ESSO location in Steinbach will open by the end of the month.

Imperial described this site as a branded wholesaler model, where they provide fuel to an independent third party—in this case, Pioneer Energy—who owns and operates the site according to brand standards.

A further request for comment from Parkland, which closed its purchase of Pioneer this summer, was not returned.

ESSO’s return to Steinbach comes at a location nearby to where the gas station once stood for decades, adjacent to the corner of Highway 12 and Brandt Street.
