Expo aims to give businesses an edge

The Edge Business Expo returns to Steinbach on Wednesday and Thursday with a diverse lineup. The event is aimed at providing information and training to Southeast business community.
Organizer John Falk said they hope to build off the success of last year’s inaugural event, tweaking the format to appeal to even more people in the business community.
While last year’s event was marketed more specifically to business owners, Falk said they are gearing the event to anyone involved in business for event’s trade show, seminars and networking opportunities.
“We’re taking a much larger approach this year,” he said.
Falk said the trade show on Thursday won’t have a traditional focus, instead it features essential services that businesses of all types and sizes can benefit.
About 30 exhibitors will be on hand.
The seminars held throughout Thursday feature local presenters with experience that Falk says others can learn from.
“Even if we can come out of it with one or two new ideas, it’s worth it,” Falk said.
For Falk, it is all about helping businesses to connect with new ideas.
“It’s very competitive out there,” he said. “If you find yourself a bit of an edge…that’s well worth spending an hour or two.”
Falk left a career in building supply sales three years ago and relishes his new role of facilitating connections between businesses.
“I love to get people together and provide an opportunity to network,” he said.
“We’re a solid region here and if there’s anything I can to do to promote our region…that gets me pumped.”
The event begins with a wine and cheese mixer on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Falk said that 100 people have already registered to attend the kick-off event.
The business expo takes place on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
