Fatal crash kills Steinbach man

An 84-year-old Steinbach man died on Monday morning when the semi dump truck he was driving collided with semi truck on Highway 75.

The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old man from East St Paul, was also killed.

The collision occurred on the highway at the intersection of Provincial Road 247, about 5 kilometres north of St Adolphe, at about 7:40 a.m.

Police said early investigation has indicated the dump truck was travelling north on Highway 75 and attempted to turn west on PR 247, when it collided with the southbound semi.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck driver was ejected from his vehicle.

Police said neither driver was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
