Firefighters from all three Tache fire halls responded to a devastating house fire on Therrien Street in Lorette Saturday night. The family of four got out safely after the father opened the garage door to find flames consuming the home according to Lorette Coun. Steve Stein, on the scene in his capacity as a fireman.

Stein said firefighters were surprised to find a small family dog alive in the bathroom where it hid from the inferno that burned all around it. A special oxygen mask for pets was used to help the shaken dog recover from smoke inhalation.

The fire caused explosions when it burned through garage contents, including a truck that appeared completely destroyed. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical according to Stein. Firefighters stayed on scene for about four hours. When they arrived just after 7 p.m. the home was already fully engulfed said Stein. The house is a total loss.
