Four arrested for meth trafficking

An investigation involving several police detachments in southern Manitoba resulted in four people facing charges of trafficking methamphetamine.

Steinbach RCMP’s General Investigation Section joined the Altona Police Service to raid a residence in Morris after midnight Saturday, where they arrested four people for meth trafficking. Police seized the drug, scales, money and packaging materials.

The evidence found led to a second search warrant, this time for a vehicle in Lorette, where further meth, a scale and packaging materials were located.

Police officers from the Emerson and Morris RCMP detachments, as well as the Winkler Police Service, helped in the investigation.

Rachel Jacques and Jordon Demare, both from Morris, Travis St. Jacques of Steinbach and Lorette resident Rachel Morris were each charged with possessing and trafficking methamphetamine.

Jacques and Demare, now in custody, were also charged this weekend with breaching the conditions of their release. They were charged in December as part of a wide-ranging meth trafficking probe in southern Manitoba, titled Project Doorman, that netted 11 arrests.

St. Jacques, who was charged in addition to possessing the proceeds of crime, and Morris were released and are scheduled to appear in Steinbach provincial court on Mar. 3, 2016.
