Friesen Drillers owner dies in motorcycle crash

A well-known Steinbach businessman died in a motorcycle accident on Monday.

John Friesen, the owner of Friesen Drillers, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near Maple Creek, Sask., say RCMP. The 63-year-old was travelling westbound on Highway 1 when the single-vehicle collision occurred. No other vehicles or persons were involved.

Friesen was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Maple Creek. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

RCMP are continuing their investigation.

Friesen Drillers is one of only two Steinbach businesses to have existed for at least a century and be run continuously by the same family. They opened in 1892.
