The RM of Hanover has joined the eastern region’s tourism development and promotion organization.

The municipality’s community development corporation passed a resolution to become a member of Eastman Tourism last Wednesday afternoon. Hanover will pay an annual $1,250 membership fee.

Reeve Stan Toews notes it’s important to use Eastman Tourism’s tools and expertise to draw people to the region.

“They do put out information from the region. All our communities have festivals and stuff—they always put those on their sites as well. It does draw some people to the area and they can find out when these festivals are on,” said Toews.

A representative from Eastman Tourism came to Hanover’s Apr. 5 council meeting as a delegation to explain the benefits of joining the organization.

Toews said Hanover was previously a member years ago.
