There are many opportunities for Manitoba families to visit farms on Sunday and experience a taste of local foods. Manitoba Open Farm Day happens this weekend with a number of farms welcoming the public to stop in for a visit, and in many cases, a taste.

While visiting a host farm, expect to meet local farmers and explore the operations. There will also be several demonstrations, farm products and recreational activities.

Some farms may charge a fee to participate in certain activities such as corn maze or pumpkin picking. And be prepared to find local products you can purchase from the farm.

Southeastern Manitoba has the greatest number of farms participating in the annual event with many different types of farms to explore. From vegetables to dairy, chickens to turkeys and scarecrows, there will be plenty of fun to keep everyone busy and entertained for the whole day.

Mennonite Heritage Village is also getting in on the action by offering a complete fall supper made entirely from local foods.

More information on Open Farm Day can be found on the Province of Manitoba website.
