Provencher MP Ted Falk teased more funding was coming Landmark’s way after he and other government levels committed to a new water treatment facility earlier today and late Friday afternoon he delivered again.

Landmark is one of five “flood prone communities” in Manitoba to receive new infrastructure for flood mitigation. The other locales are the municipalities of Cartier, Wallace-Woodworth, Deloraine-Winchester and Grahamdale.

No specifics were offered in the media release on what such an upgrade for those five communities would include.

The governments of Canada and Manitoba will jointly offer up to $9.27 million for the five projects under the Community Dikes Initiative. The municipal contribution for all projects amounts to $1.03 million.

In two days Falk has promised millions to his constituency, joining his federal counterparts making big-budget announcements in the lead-up to an election widely expected to be called this weekend. No funding announcements can be made after the writ has been dropped.

The MP earlier promised part of the federal government’s $113 million commitment to the Prairies to improve four border crossings, close to $4 million for infrastructure improvements in Landmark, Steinbach, Niverville and Blumenort, and nearly a half a million in pledges for Canada 150 projects.
