With school board elections only three months away, more people are publicizing their intentions to run for a seat. Julie Loupin is looking to become one of four trustees to represent Steinbach in the Hanover School Division.

“I have lived in Steinbach for the last four years and just love the community,” said Loupin. “We have great schools here with teachers that really care about our students.”

Since making Steinbach her home, Loupin has been involved in the Parent Advisory Council for both Southwood School and Stonybrook Middle School.

“I think it is very important to be involved in my children’s education, so being on PAC was a great way for me to get involved.”

If she receives enough support to join the school board, Loupin intends to place great importance on learning and success for all students.

“We have an amazing freedom to educate in our school system, one that should not be taken for granted, but should be utilized to its fullest potential. This fantastic structure of teaching exists so that all children, from every family and background, can be blessed with the same experience as their neighbour; to learn, to grow, to excel and to succeed.”

Staff development is on her radar.

“We need to consistently develop staff in all relevant areas to remain focused on our learning goals so that they are successfully implemented into the lives of every student. I believe that we can’t do this alone; we must be willing to work together.”

Loupin and her husband Warren have two children, Cody, 12, and Shenise, 9.
