A Blumenort man has died after the car he was working on dropped on top of him, RCMP confirmed Sunday morning.

RCMP Sgt. Bert Paquet said the 48-year-old man was underneath the vehicle Saturday afternoon when it dropped. Some neighbours pulled the man from the car before medical personnel, who performed CPR, arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Steinbach fire department deputy chief Ron Chausse said Saturday the man was changing brake pads when the incident occurred at a residence on Ridgeview Place. He was using a jack to hold up the car.
