Man dead in fatal Highway 59 crash

A 30-year-old man from St Malo has died after a fatal incident Tuesday night north of the community.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 59, RCMP has confirmed.
A black 2009 Chevrolet Malibu travelling southbound on Highway 59 struck a pedestrian standing in the middle of the road, just north of Highway 23.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the car, a 32-year-old female and a 16-year-old female, both from St Pierre-Jolys, were not injured.
The RCMP Forensic Collision Analyst Unit is assisting in the police’s investigation.
The St Malo Fire Department was directing motorists around the crash onto La Rochelle Road. Emergency personnel were still on site 90 minutes after the incident occurred.
