A man who was stabbed in the chest at a Steinbach apartment Wednesday night is recuperating.

A resident at the McKenzie Manor apartment complex said Thursday she heard a commotion in the apartment the previous night and saw a man with a t-shirt wrapped around his abdomen, covering a wound.

Police arrived at 284 McKenzie Avenue before 11 p.m. The neighbour said the alleged suspect, a female, was arrested and the victim was transported to hospital.

Steinbach RCMP Staff Sgt. Harold Laninga confirmed the victim is doing okay.

Cam Heke, a spokesperson with STARS, confirmed the air ambulance landed at the city’s airport Wednesday evening in response to a “report of a penetrating wound” but their services were not required as the patient was not transported to Winnipeg.
