About 17,000 customers in sections of southern Manitoba are without power after a vicious storm tore through last night.

Manitoba Hydro reported Thursday morning they are assigning crews throughout the province, with their priority focused on downed and sparking Hydro lines initially.

The public utility said last night there were 26,200 customers without power.

Areas around Anola were among the worst hit in southeastern Manitoba, courtesy of a storm system that travelled east from the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border.
