The core events that make up Marchand Logging Day are back, alongside a new favourite making an appearance this Saturday.

Marchand’s annual festival the second last weekend of August has returned. Again, it’s only a one-day affair, which means the last word on the traditional ‘Logging Days’ moniker is a singular phrase.

As is often the case, the mud bog (5 p.m.) and log sawing (8 p.m.) are back, along with the evening dance.

A fan-favourite from last August, the lawnmower races, will rev its engines for 3 p.m. There is a prize for the wackiest helmet.

This July’s Canada Day fireworks show that was cancelled due to inclement weather will instead happen this Saturday. The skies will be illuminated at dusk.

Other fair events include the slo-pitch at 9 a.m. and the children’s activities will ensue at 1 p.m.
