The Southeast winter carnival season spotlight is on New Bothwell this coming weekend as they host two days of seasonal festivities on Feb. 24 to 25.
The festivities begin Friday at 6:30 p.m. with public skating. Registration for the evening’s cribbage tournament begins at 6:45 p.m., with games starting at 7 p.m. Registration costs $20 per team.
A kid’s movie, with popcorn, will begin shortly before 7 p.m.
Saturday’s activities kick off with a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. After breakfast, kids can enjoy a variety of free activities, including a colouring contest, face painting and balloons from Maggie the Clown and bingo, running throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Kids, teen and adult scrambles take place at 4 p.m.
Silent auction prize winners will be drawn at 7 p.m.
After the prize draws, head out to the rink and warm up at one of the outdoor fire pits. A fireworks display will close out the weekend at 8:30 p.m.
Funds raised from the annual carnival go towards the community’s recreational needs. This year the recreational committee is working on upgrading the playground at the park.
