Niverville may see more council seats on the ballot next election.

Town council is considering adding more councillors to the table during the upcoming 2018 municipal election.

Mayor Myron Dyck said council set up a story board to find out what the ratios of residents to councillors were per capita, as compared to neighbouring municipalities. The exercise indicated they are below the other municipalities ratios. Dyck cites growth in the community as a reason for this.

Dyck also adds council has heard residents talking about this issue, prompting council to discuss adding more councillors during the next election, how many councillors should be added and if they should implement a ward system.

Niverville council is seeking public feedback on the issue.

Council needs to let the province know over a year in advance what their intentions are for the upcoming 2018 election, Dyck said.
