Pigs die in HyLife barn blaze

A fire at a HyLife owned hog barn northwest of Kola, MB resulted in the death of about 1,500 sows on Tuesday night.

Virden and Melita RCMP responded to fire around 10 p.m. When officers arrived on scene the barn was fully engulfed in flames and the RM of Wallace fire department was working to keep the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
