Providence readies public lecture series

In what has become an annual event, Providence University College is rolling out another series of lectures in Steinbach starting next week.

All of the events take place at Eastman Education Centre on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m.

On Feb. 3, associate professor of New Testament and English Literature Michael Gilmour kicks off the series with “Isaiah on iTunes: Popular Music’s Strange Fascination with the Bible.”

Subsequent lectures include “How English got so complicated” on Feb. 10, “Is Christian faith obsolete in a scientific age” on Feb. 17, “Beauty as a Human Need: Visual Art as Learning Strategy, Therapy, and Worship” on Feb. 24, “The Postmodern Turn Away from Religion Toward Spirituality” on March 3, “Intersex Realities and the Church: The Unwelcomed, Unwanted Neighbour” on March 10, and “Living in Dying and Modern Health Care” on March 17.
