Safeway pharmacy closes today

The decommissioning of the Steinbach Safeway takes a critical step today.
The grocery store’s pharmacy will permanently close Saturday at 5 p.m., with all prescription files and records transferring across the street to the Steinbach Sobeys Pharmacy as of Monday.
The rest of the Steinbach Safeway will end its operations on Dec. 6.
Sobeys is currently expanding its pharmacy at Clearspring Centre, which explains why prescriptions are being filled at a temporary site adjacent to the store as the renovation continues.
In June, Sobeys announced they would close 50 “underperforming” stores nationwide, which included the Safeway in Steinbach.
