Search on for missing hiker – updated

UPDATE: At 2:58 p.m., Manitoba RCMP reported the hiker has been located. Search and rescue crews are treating her for mild hypothermia. 

A search is underway for a missing hiker in the Whiteshell.

On Thursday evening around 7:20 p.m., Falcon Lake RCMP received a report of an overdue hiker.

A 33-year-old Winnipeg woman who planned to hike the Mantario Trail to Mantario Lake to camp for the night was due back the afternoon of December 1, but she had not yet returned. Her car is parked at the entrance to the Mantario Trail. The female is an avid hiker, and was well prepared for the elements with food and shelter.

Police said in a release that RCMP Search and Rescue, the Office of the Fire Commissioner and Search and Rescue Manitoba are on scene.
