Five communities in the RM of Hanover will soon have their name in lights.

LED signs have been installed this month in three municipal communities, Blumenort, Mitchell and New Bothwell, with two more to be erected in the coming weeks in Grunthal and Kleefeld.

The electronic billboards will be used to promote local recreation and municipal information.

The total price tag for the project is $165,000.

Hanover CAO Luc Lahaie explains the Kleefeld Recreation Association inquired about installing their own electronic sign a few years ago, through grants they receive from the municipality. Instead, council suggested taking this initiative on themselves, and extending it to all RM communities.

The signs will be located on municipal land in all communities except for Blumenort where an arrangement was made with Two Peppers Restaurant to hold it on their property.

The signs are expected to be operational in early September.
