The Mennonite Heritage Village has cancelled Spring on the Farm in response to the inclement weather that has tormented the region this May long.

The day featuring a tractor show, pioneer demonstrations and horse-drawn wagon rides has been marked as the first festival of the season at the Steinbach museum.

The museum will be open today, including The Livery Barn Restaurant.

Meanwhile, the Hanover Ag Society decided last night to cancel the provincial high school rodeo competition intended to run Monday in Grunthal.

Environment Canada says weather conditions will keep improving as the day wears on, with periods of light snow in the region ending this morning. Wind gusts of up to 60 km/h will diminish to 20 km/h by late this afternoon.

Much of southern Manitoba was clobbered by heavy winds and rain Sunday. The average rainfall was about 40 mm.
