Steinbach’s Main Street will be filled with entertainment, culture, worship and fun as the ninth annual Summer in the City returns June 16 to 18.

Manitoba’s own and the first ever Summer in the City headliner, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider, will return to the main stage Saturday night. Tickets are $35 or $50 for VIP. Rising Canadian country artist, Jess Moskaluke will perform Friday night. Tickets are $25 or $50 for VIP.

Culture in the City celebrates delicious food and cultures from across the world. Festival-goers can taste food from China, Colombia, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Paraguay and the Philippines Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Mennonite staple, waffles and white sauce, will also be available for purchase.

Live performances run Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Enjoy a ride at the Wonders Shows midway Friday from 4 p.m. until midnight, Saturday from noon until midnight and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Ride ticket prices range from $10 to $50. Unlimited ride all day wristbands are $30. As a Father’s Day Special, all fathers receive a 50 percent discount on wristbands when accompanied by their family.

Local artists will be on site at the Artists in the City tent Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for demonstrations.

New at the festival this year, Paint in the City, a free paint party on Main Street will run 45 minute sessions Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

What does Canada mean to you? Create a flag showing your Canadian pride for the new My Canada Is… community art project. The activity runs all weekend and flags will be displayed around the festival.

Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Milt Stegall, Danny Plett and Project Worship will lead Sunday’s worship service at 10:30 a.m. A goodwill offering will be collected and donated to Southeast Helping Hands, Youth for Christ and Agape House.

Worship in the City continues with concert with local Christian artists, Island Breeze, Don Doerksen, Mayflowers in June, RBB, The Boy & The Sea, at 12:30 p.m.

The weekend wraps up with a free concert from Christian artist Dan Bremnes at 6 p.m.

Drivers are reminded there will be a series of street closures for the festival.

Beginning Thursday at 7 a.m., Reimer Avenue will close from Elmdale Avenue to Main Street and from Main Street to First Street. Main Street will remain open to traffic until 6 p.m., when it will close from Friesen Avenue to Barkman Avenue.

Lumber Avenue from Main Street to Elmdale Avenue will be closed Friday from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. Main Street will be closed from Friesen Avenue to Highway 12 from 5 p.m. until midnight.

Lumber Avenue from Main Street to First Street will be closed Saturday from noon until 9 p.m. and Main Street from Friesen Avenue to Highway 12 will be closed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Main Street and Reimer Avenue will reopen Sunday at midnight.
