An armed robber who made off with a large sum of cash from Ste Anne Hotel this February will be sentenced next year.

Judge Sid Lerner accepted guilty pleas from Nathaniel More-Harrison last Thursday at Steinbach provincial court for robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence. It was read in court that More-Harrison confronted an employee at the bar while brandishing a knife and took “several thousand in cash.”

The case has been adjourned until Mar. 5 so a restorative resolution report can be crafted. This example of restorative justice lets the offender determine how to repair the harm caused, keeping the victim’s concerns foremost. The judge will use the plan, once submitted, as the basis for a conditional sentence (serving the sentence in the community) instead of incarceration.

Judge Sid Lerner agreed to the request, which is said to have a high success rate.

The offence occurred in the early morning of Feb. 26, 2014.
