A truck likely travelling too fast drove way off course north of Kleefeld late Thursday afternoon.
Steinbach RCMP Cst. Klem suggested the driver of a black truck eastbound on Highway 52 was driving too fast to take the southbound merge onto Provincial Road 216 and lost control. The truck came to a halt when it hit a line of trees southeast of the intersection, maybe 50 yards from the off-ramp.
“It doesn’t look like he hit the brakes at all,” said Klem.
The driver and passenger were injured but Klem did not know to what extent. He said they were communicative.
The police’s investigation is ongoing.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene around 5:15 p.m.
