Natural health products are now being produced at the Valeant plant in Steinbach. Charles Perez, vice-president and general manager of Bausch and Lomb Canada, a division of Valeant Canada, was on hand to help celebrate the grand opening of the addition at the facility and the addition of the natural health products line which includes brands such as Cold FX.
“I’m also very pleased to share with you the great news that this addition of this (product) line has created 60 new and qualifying jobs to this facility,” Prerez said just prior to the ribbon cutting.
Kevin Chief, minister of jobs and the economy, helped cut the ribbon Tuesday morning.
“We are extremely proud of the expansion of this facility in Steinbach as it provides tangible benefits in terms of economic growth and job creation,” Chief said. “This opportunity allows us to consolidate high-level jobs, and keep the expertise and know-how in Manitoba. Manitoba is the pharmaceutical manufacturing hub of Western Canada thanks to companies like Valeant that are committed to investing and playing a key role in our communities.”
Steinbach is Valeant’s largest North American manufacturing site where the company owns and operates a sprawling state-of-the-art facility which handles manufacturing of prescription and non-prescription medication destined for North American and other global markets.
