The Carillon Senior Hockey League championship series kicks off tonight in Ste Anne as the defending champion Aces will host the Red River Wild at 8:00 p.m. in the opening game of the best of seven finals.

Red River defeated the Springfield 98s 4-1 last night at St. Jean in the seventh and deciding game of their semi-final series.

Marshall Cox made 29 saves to backstop the Wild to the game seven victory. Scoring for the Wild, who held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1, were Tyler Pchajek, Jay Roberts, Josh Sabourin and Cole Brunet. Chris Stelmack scored the lone goal for the 98s.

The Aces, who have been idle for 10 days, swept the Grunthal Red Wings four straight in their semi-final series.

Ste Anne and Red River finished tied for first in the regular season standings with identical 13-6-1-0 records, but the Aces were awarded first because they won the season series between the two clubs.
