Aces on brink as Wild win in OT

Marc Sabourin scored two and a half minutes into overtime to lift the Red River Wild to a 6-5 victory over the Ste Anne Aces Thursday night at St. Jean to take a 3-1 lead over the defending champion Aces in the Carillon Senior Hockey League championship series.

Red River led 2-1 after the opening 20 minutes but the Aces took a 4-3 lead into the third in the see-saw battle. After the Wild had regained the lead in the final frame, Colan Jackson tied it for the Aces with just over three minutes remaining in regulation to send this game into overtime.

Tyler Pchajek netted a hat trick to pace the Wild while Matt Mazine and Paul Remillard had the other Red River Red River markers. Replying for the Aces were Carson McCallum, Yvan Pattyn, Brent Wold and a goal and two assists from Justin Tremblay.

Game five in the best of seven series will be played Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Ste Anne. Should Ste Anne prolong the series, game six would be played Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Jean.

Meanwhile, game five of the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League finals will be played tonight at 8:00 p.m. at St. Jean as the Red River Mudbugs host the Springfield Xtreme. The Xtreme lead that series 3-1.
