Just two days after the regular season wrapped up on Saturday, the Carillon Senior Hockey League post-season opens tonight at Grunthal as the Red Wings host the Steinbach Huskies at 8:00 p.m. in the opening game of the best of five quarter-final.

Although the fourth place Huskies (10-9-1-0) finished three points ahead of fifth place Grunthal (9-11-0-0), Grunthal hosts game one because of ice availibility. Steinbach will instead host back to back games later in the series.

The other series wil have third place Springfield up against sixth place La Broquerie. Dates for that series have not yet been announced.

The Ste Anne Aces clinched first place in the standings with a 4-2 victory over the Red River Wild in a first place showdown Friday night at Ste Anne. The Aces and Wild, who both receive first round byes in the playoffs, finished with a identical 13-6-1-0 records, but the Aces win the pennant because they won the season series between the two clubs.

In other games this weekend as the CSHL wrapped up their regular season, Steinbach outscored Ste. Anne 3-1 and Springfield defeated La Broquerie 9-4.

The HTJHL playoffs get underway Wednesday at Grunthal, also featuring the Red Wings and the Huskies in an 8:00 p.m. puck drop in the opening game of the best of five quarter-finals.
