Canadiens hockey greats in Steinbach

Tickets are still available for tonight’s (Thursday) hockey game in Steinbach that will feature the legendary Montreal Canadiens alumni taking on some of the legends of local hockey in a fund-raising hockey game to benefit the Steinbach Pistons junior hockey club.

Game time at the T.G. Smith Centre tonight is 7:00 p.m. Game day tickets for $20 can be purchased at the door beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Canadiens alumni line-up is expected to include the likes of Stephane Richer, Steve Shutt, Guy Carbonneau, Yvon Lambert, Sergio Momesso, Rick Green, Mathieu Dandenault, Normand Dupont, Gilbert Delorme, Karl Dykhuis and Richard Sevigny.

They will be playing against a collection of former hockey stars from the area, including: Dale Krentz, Brad Purdie, Pat Penner, Mitch Normandeau, Louis Cote, Mike Martens, Matt Friesen, Jon Stroich, Paul Gauthier, Mitch Tetrault, Brent Stoesz, Rob Smith, Ryan Bonni, Jared Driedger, Harold Rempel, Neal Stoesz and Ivan Koop.

The local contingent will be coached by Steinbach Pistons coaches Paul Dyck and Graham Pollock.
