Mackenzie Graham scored at 1:50 of overtime to propel the first place Steinbach Pistons to a 3-2 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action Saturday night at Virden.

With the win, the Pistons split the two-game weekend series in Virden as the Caps upset the Pistons 4-2 on Friday.

In last night’s game, Bradley Schoonbaert staked the Pistons to a 1-0 lead in the first and Braden Purtill made it 2-0 Steinbach in the second.

But a pair of rapid fire goals midway through the third tied this game as the Capitals scored twice just 22 seconds apart, to send this game into extra time.

The Pistons outshot the Oil Capitals 45-32 as Roman Bengert picked up yet another win, making 30 saves, as he has now won a league-leading 33 games between the pipes this season.

The Pistons return home to host the Winkler Flyers Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the T.G. Smith Centre in Steinbach. A Steinbach win would clinch the MJHL pennant for the Pistons and guarenteed home ice advantage through the playoffs.

Steinbach now has 89 points on a record of 44-8-1 with seven games remaining and a 10-point lead on the second place Flyers, who have six games remaining. The Pistons have already won the season series between the two clubs.
