Pistons’ Lisoway to suit up with Bisons

The U of M Bisons announced Friday the commitment of three players to their men’s hockey program for next season, including Steinbach Pistons’ forward Quintin Lisoway, who just completed his junior career with the Pistons this week as the Pistons were defeated in the MJHL finals by the Portage Terriers.

Also joining the Bisons next year will be Kamerin Nault, who spent the past four seasons with the Winnipeg Blues, and Nick Zajac, who just completed five years with the Saskatoon Blades.

Lisoway, 20, the Neepawa native, played three seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings as well as spending time with the Pistons off and on during the past four seasons, finishing the year with the Pistons this season and was a major contributor to the hockey club in the second half of the regular season and in the playoffs.

In 27 regular season games with the Pistons this year, Lisoway garnered 33 points, including 18 goals. He added eight goals and eight assists in 16 playoff games for the Pistons this spring.

Lisoway played 171 games for the Wheat Kings over three years, and was an assistant captain of the pennant-winning WHL club in the 2014-15 season.

“I am very excited about joining the Bisons,” said Lisoway, in a Bisons Sports press release, “the decision to commit to the U of M was an easy one, not only will it be competitive hockey, but I will also get a top-notch education from a highly regarded school.”

In commenting on the three new recruits, Bison head coach Mike Sirant said, “These are very important signings that will help the Bisons take the next steps towards a championship season. Nick, Kamerin and Quintin are outstanding two-way players that will bring offensive skill combined with a very high compete level. They also have exceptional character and played important leadership roles on their previous teams.”
