Bradley Schoonbaert and Danny Pion each scored two goals to lead the Steinbach Pistons to a 5-2 victory over the Portage Terriers Friday night in Steinbach in the final weekend of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League regular season.

Jordan Bochinski rounded out the scoring for the Pistons, who skated to period leads  of 2-1 and 3-2. Roman Bengert picked up the win in net for the Pistons as the Pistons outshot the Terriers 35-23.

The Pistons improved their first place record to 48-10-1 with the win.

Elsewhere in the MJHL last night: Winkler blanked Winnipeg 3-0; Swan Valley edged Waywayseecappo 4-3; Neepawa downed Dauphin 6-4; and OCN defeated Selkirk 3-2.

The Pistons will host the OCN Blizzard tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Steinbach in the final game of the regular season.

Steinbach will open the playoffs Friday, Mar. 10 at home against either the Neepawa Natives or Swan Valley Stampeders. Those two teams are currently tied for eighth place and will square off Sunday night in Neepawa with the final playoff berth at stake, closing out the MJHL season.
