The Carillon Sultans put on another impressive offensive display Wednesday night at Stonewall as the Sultans pummeled the Interlake Blue Jays 17-0.

Together with their doubleheader sweep over the first place Brandon Marlins Sunday at Brandon, the Sultans have scored 39 runs in their last three Manitoba Junior Baseball League games.

Last night at Stonewall, Jared Esau had a dominant game for the Sultans as he was not only the winning pitcher but was also deadly at the plate.

Esau was the winner on the mound with a fine pitching performance that saw him surrender only two hits, walked two and fanned nine in the five-inning mercy rule game.

And at the plate, Esau had six RBI on the night, which included a three-run triple in the fifth.

Nick Grenier was also a force at the plate for the Sultans as he reached base four times, including a double and a triple, scored four runs and also drove in a pair.

One other game in the MJBL on Wednesday saw the St. James A’s edge the Elmwood Giants 5-4. The Sultans, now 6-3 on the season, have moved into a second place tie with the Giants in the MJBL standings. Brandon continues to lead with an 8-2 record.

The Sultans hit the road again Friday when they travel to Morden to take on the Pembina Valley Orioles (2-7) with the first pitch going at 7:00 p.m.
