The Carillon Sultans AAA Pee Wee team is well-positioned for a shot at a provincial title this weekend after they won all five of their games at the qualifier in Ile des Chenes.

On Friday the Sultans dispatched Bonivital 17-10 before turning aside Interlake 5-1 and thrashing Midwest 13-2 the next day. They closed off the round-robin style tournament Sunday by narrowly eclipsing Oildome 14-12 and a 22-4 dismantling of Red River.

The team took top spot in the six-team loop, earning a berth alongside the rest of their combatants in the top five to the provincial championships held on the August long weekend at St. James.

The Bantam AAA Sultans also earned a provincials berth, finishing 4-2 on the weekend, also in Ile des Chenes.

Carillon entered the tournament with a 1-2 record following consecutive defeats to Oildome and St. James. The Sultans would then shut out Midwest 8-0 and then beat Brandon 11-5 and North Winnipeg 12-8.

The Bantam’s provincial championships will take place in Winkler, also happening this weekend.
